Sami Alhoraibi

Chairman and Co-Founder

Sami Alhoraibi has over 18 years’ of experience in managing Alhoraibi Group, the family business running for 50 years based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The business has interests in retail, trading, real estate, and hospitality. Sami Alhoraibi has excellent knowledge and experience of capital markets and private equity investments. Since 2006, he has been the chairman and co-founder of Asas Capital Ltd. He is also the managing director and co-owner of Sami Mohsen Alhoraibi Holding Co. in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Riyad Al Horaibi

CEO and Co-Founder

Riyad has over 15 years of successful experience in Capital markets and Private equity Investments. Prior to this, he was the CEO and Co- Founder of Sahara Global Investment, a propriety investment company based in Dubai. Riyad started his career working in the family business running for 50 years based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The business has interests in retail, trading, real estate, and hospitality. Moving to Dubai, he made a move into investment banking starting at HSBC and then setting up Sahara Global Investment. He holds a degree in Bachelor of Economics and completed his MBA from The American University of Sharjah and is a member of Boards in a number of companies in Saudi, UAE, and the Middle East.


Robert McKinnon

Non-Executive Director

Prior to joining Asas Capital in 2010, Robert was the Head of Research and Brokerage Operations at Al Mal Capital, a regional investment bank based in Dubai. He provides over 15 years of unparalleled emerging market investment experience targeting sectors such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Retail, Auto parts, Real Estate, and Consumer Goods.

His experience includes roles as a Vice President of Equity Research with Credit Suisse First Boston and Citigroup Salomon Smith Barney, covering Latin American Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, and Conglomerates sectors. In 2005, Robert joined Naeem Holding in Dubai to establish the investment company’s international investment arm. As Managing Director of Naeem Global Asset Management, his additional roles included launching the company’s first regional research effort and as a member of the Regional Investment Committee, overseeing in excess of US$ 5 billion in assets.

Hisham Farouk

Non-Executive Director

Hisham has advised multinational, regional and local family businesses on a wide range of issues including compliance and regulatory matters, as well as conducting numerous valuation exercises, due diligence reports and feasibility studies. Expertly acquainted and versed with efficient procedures and legalities of setting up businesses, Hisham is a highly recommended advisor to establishments in the UAE and its Free Zones.

He is an active public speaker on a wide range of financial and business issues both locally and internationally and often finds time to present at schools and youth organizations. He holds a masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the American University in London Harvard Business School Leadership program.  Registered Auditor with the UAE Ministry of Economy, Licensed insolvency practitioner with the DIFC.
